ECON1141 FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING FOR ECON

This course introduces accounting as a measurement system which reflects the efficiency and performance of an organization. Accounting theory and principles are discussed. The components of accounting – balance sheet, income statement, fund flow statement – are described. Special emphasis is put on the interpretation of financial statements in terms of liquidity, solvency, profitability, efficiency and growth. This course serves as a conceptual background for the study of money and banking, and financial economics.(Not for students who have taken, or are currently taking ACCT2111.)
