Computers in the laboratory have virtually all of the available state-of-the-art softwares that are essential for modern quantitative analyses. In addition, the department has many valuable datasets, such as WIND, DataStream and China Census, enabling our students to develop and implement practical research ideas in virtually all areas of economics and finance.
The department has a dedicated Career Unit for our students. Services include career counseling, jobs and internships announcements, job match advising, CV and cover letter writing advisory, job interview practices, graduate studies opportunities and referrals.
The department regularly invites our alumni to share their career experience with our students. This is an invaluable opportunity for our students to learn and to prepare for the current dynamic business environment.
Talented final year students are recruited by the department as Peer-tutors who would provide useful studying advice for students from all years.
Students in the economics programmes are often hired by the teachers for their research projects, a great way to prepare themselves for a research career, academic or otherwise.
